The Gallery

At Castle Hill we love and encourage creativity.

We are lucky to have skilled staff but also often work with some fantastic professional and amateur artists who come into school to complete projects with us.

Here are some of the art projects our students have completed.

Exhibition of Art and Textile Work

Some of our secondary students here Castle Hill worked together with pupils from Newsome High School to complete a variety of Art and Textile projects. Outstanding work was produced and was exhibited in the North Light Gallery in November 2010.

Secondary 3 visited Textile House - The Design Incubator.

The students looked at a variety of work including -

Unique textile based craft pieces, made using recycled materials.

Weaving, wrapping, knotting, crochet combined to create three-dimentional organic forms.

Sculpture made from natural fibres.

The students enjoyed the visit and as we can see from the photographs below they all showed a great deal of genuine interest in all of the exhibits.

Art with Primary 3.

Primary 3 have been looking at the work of the artist Andy Goldsworthy.

The students have produced a variety of inspired art using natural materials.

Pointillism with Sixth Form.

Pointillism was followed by a school of painters who used a technique of painting with tiny dots of pure colours that would blend in the viewer's eye. The Sixth Form have been producing their own pointillist art.

Secondary 2 make Bubble Art.

Secondary 2 have been exploring an innovative way to produce works of art. They have been producing bubble art with some fabulous results.
