About The School

Mission Statement

"The school seeks to meet the needs of the pupils and to prepare them for life, by helping them to achieve their full potential. The school will enable its pupils to experience the full richness of childhood, both in the curriculum and at play. The joy of words, the power of numbers and freedom of imagination, will be at the heart of a partnership between the school and whoever cares for the child. The school, as a caring community, will strive to teach Christian values and beliefs both in the curriculum and by example."

School Organisation

The school is a voluntary controlled Infants day school with a Nursery Unit. It takes children in the age range 3 to 7 years. The school is affiliated to the Church of England, and we seek to present Christian values and ethics as part of our school life. The building houses a main foyer, staffroom, Headteacher's and school secretary's office, caretaker's store and kitchens. The six classrooms are semi open plan with shared areas and a library. The hall is used for assemblies, class lessons, parents' meetings and as a dining hall at lunchtime. The nursery is part of the school building and offers both morning and afternoon sessions. The Nursery and Reception class share many of their facilities, including an outside, fenced play area.

The Grounds

The school is surrounded by shrubberies and grassed areas. It has a playground at the front, which provides an interesting play area for the children as parents have worked to provide features such as concrete animals, a log bridge and covered areas with seating. There is a large playing field in the school grounds. A conservation area and pond have been created in the grounds for the children to use under supervision. The pond is within a secure, fenced area.

The Curriculum

The school's first objective is to ensure that the children are happy in school so that they can learn effectively. We follow the government's recommendations as regards the curriculum. We have recently implemented both the Literacy Hour and the Daily Mathematics lesson. As a staff, we plan together, to ensure that we are offering a balanced curriculum.
